Jonathan E. Rubin
I joined the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh in 2000. During my time here, I have (co-)advised 13 postdoctoral fellows, 24 graduate students, and 45 undergraduate researchers.
With my collaborators and trainees, we work on problems in dynamical systems, neuroscience, and other areas of theoretical biology and applied mathematics. Some areas of focus over the years have included multiple timescale dynamics, function (e.g., action selection, reinforcement learning) and dysfunction (e.g., Parkinson's disease) in the basal ganglia, and rhythmic neural dynamics (e.g., respiratory and locomotor activity).
I was selected as a SIAM Fellow in the Class of 2021. I am the founding Editor-in-Chief of the SIAM Journal on Life Sciences. My publications can be accessed at Google Scholar and similar sites listed to the left.
